An electrical safety program including electrical safety procedures should be in place for those whose work involves electrical hazards.
Before energized work takes place, electrical safety program procedures must be created and customized for the specific task. The procedures should identify the safeguards to be used before the actual work is started.

110.1 Electrical Safety Program.
(A) General. The employer shall implement and document an overall electrical safety program that directs activity appropriate to the risk associated with electrical hazards. The electrical safety program shall be implemented as part of the employer’s overall occupational health and safety management system, when one exists.
Informational Note No. 1: Safety-related work practices such as verification of proper maintenance and installation, alerting techniques, auditing requirements, and training requirements provided in this standard are administrative controls and part of an overall electrical safety program.
(G) Electrical Safety Program Procedures. An electrical safety program shall identify the procedures to be utilized before work is started by employees exposed to an electrical hazard.
