Amend NEC® 2017, page 59:
(D) Kitchen Dishwasher Branch Circuit.
Deleted.
ELR commentary: In the 2017 NEC®, Section 210.8(D) requires GFCI protection for “outlets” that supply dishwashers installed in dwelling unit locations. This would include any dwelling unit dishwasher whether hard-wired or cord and plug connected since the NEC® definition of an outlet can also include a hard-wired connection.
In North Carolina, this requirement has been deleted. GFCI protection in a dwelling unit kitchen is required for 15 and 20-amp, single phase, 125-volt receptacles that serve the counter or where such receptacles are located within 6 feet from the top inside edge of the sink. See NEC® 210.8.
Which of the following is true of dwelling unit kitchen dishwasher branch circuits installed in NC?
