Code Change Summary: Code language was added in 225.10 to include “other structures”.

The phrase “or other structures” was added in 225.10 to ensure that “other structures” (not specifically meeting the definition of a “building” in Article 100) were covered in Article 225. This article now applies to outdoor branch circuits and feeders that serve buildings “or other structures”.

Article 100 defines a “Building” as A structure that stands alone or that is cut off from adjoining structures by fire walls with all openings therein protected by approved fire doors.

Article 100 defines a “Structure” as That which is built or constructed.

All buildings are structures but not all structures are buildings.

Now it is clear that an outdoor feeder supplying a pole-mounted sign, monument sign, bridge or cell phone tower is in fact covered in Article 225.
