NEC Article 100 defines a “Branch Circuit” as “The circuit conductors between the final overcurrent device protecting the circuit and the outlet(s).”
In Oregon, an additional definition was added in 620.2 to define a “Separate Branch Circuit” specific to elevators:
620.2 Definitions.
Separate Branch Circuit. A circuit dedicated solely for the purpose intended without other devices, systems or equipment connected to the circuit.
