Be careful to look for the shaded letter "N" which identifies new code sections and chapters.

Code Change Summary: New code sections in the NEC^® are now identified by a grey shaded italicised letter N next to the code section.

Below is how to recognize changes to existing sections, changes to NEC^® illustrations, new code sections or tables, and code sections deleted from the NEC:

Changes other than editorial are indicated with gray shading within sections.
An entire figure or illustration caption with gray shading indicates a change to an existing figure or illustration.
New sections, tables, and figures are indicated by a bold, italic N in a gray box to the left of the new material. An N next to an Article title indicates that the entire Article is new.
Where one or more complete paragraphs have been deleted, the deletion is indicated by a bullet (•) between the paragraphs that remain.
