Code Change Summary: A new section was added to address the proper installation of Class 2, Class 3, and PLTC Cables.

The new code section contains some of the same language that was previously found in 725.154 but now allows communications raceways that were previously only permitted in Article 770 for fiber optic cables and Chapter 8 for communications systems.

If communications raceways are permitted for limited energy installations such as fiber optic cables or communications cables, then it makes sense to also allow communications raceways for specific remote control, signaling, and power limited circuits mentioned in 725.135.

Below is a preview of the NEC®.  See the actual NEC® text at NFPA.ORG for the complete code section. Once there, click on the “free access” tab and select the applicable year of NFPA 70 (National Electrical code).
