It is critical for a qualified security system consultant to be able to properly advise potential clients on locating security system imaging components to avoid tampering which can lead to a security breach.

Imaging system components such as control units, subcontrols, and devices that are used to interconnect the cameras to network interface devices (NIDs) or closed circuit television (CCTV) control units are required to be located within secured areas.

NFPA 731 does not define what is considered a “secured area” so it is left up to the security system designer. It is critical for a qualified security system consultant to be able to properly advise potential clients on locating security system imaging components to avoid tampering which can lead to a security breach.
